Obituary

William Dudley McCallum, Jr.

August 22, 1942 – September 14, 2025

William Dudley McCallum, Jr., 83, of The Villages, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025.

Born in Breckenridge, Michigan, on August 22, 1942, William was the beloved son of William D. McCallum, Sr. and Dorothy L. McCallum of Leesburg, Florida. He was a  brother to Diane Walker of Jacksonville, Florida, and Richard McCallum of Lady Lake, Florida.

William shared 56 wonderful years of marriage with his loving wife, Sandra G. McCallum. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. He was a proud and devoted father to William Lewis McCallum of Ocala, Florida, and father-in-law to Deana D. McCallum. His greatest joy was his granddaughter, Kathryn A. McCallum, whom he adored.

A veteran of the United States Navy, William honorably served for five years aboard the USS Myles C. Fox (DD-829). Following his military service, he pursued higher education and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, New Hampshire. He dedicated 46 years to the electronics industry, living in Dover, New Hampshire, and Palm Harbor, Florida, before retiring to The Villages in 2008.

William was a man of faith and community spirit. He was a longtime member of The First Parish Congregational Church in Dover, New Hampshire, and continued his spiritual journey by attending online services at The Congregational Church in Summerfield, Florida. His love for life was evident in his active participation in numerous clubs, including the Knights Golf Group, Monday Mira Mesa Golf Group, Baby Boomers Club, and the Chula Vista Club.

He found joy in listening to books on his Kindle, traveling, golfing, and spending quality time with his family, friends, and neighbors. William’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Chula Vista Recreation Center, The Villages, FL. Family and friends are invited to gather from 5:15 to 7:30 p.m., with a prayer service led by Rev. Susan Moody of The Congregational Church in Summerfield, Florida, beginning at 6:00 p.m.  Arrangements entrusted with BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral & Cremation Society-Spanish Springs, 352-430-1449.  Sentiments are encouraged at www.baldwincremation.com.
