William “Bill” Robert McGehean was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He left this world suddenly on October 14, 2022 at Leesburg Hospital at the age of 75.

He was born November 11, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of William Joseph and Alice Jean McGehean.  As a football player and scholar, Bill graduated from West Catholic High School, Philadelphia, PA and attended Villanova University.  He was called to service in Vietnam in the U.S. Army.  After his service, he returned home and married Janet Mooney.  They lived in Colorado, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Arkansas and Delaware, raising two children along the way, before retiring to Florida. With many years of travel and memories, they celebrated 52 years of marriage this past July.

Bill loved playing golf, getting together with friends or family, travelling and was known for sharing wonderful stories.  He also took great joy in his children and grandchildren and his face would light up whenever he spoke of them.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, John McGehean.  Surviving in addition to his wife, Janet, are his son, Shawn McGehean and his wife, Susan, of Williamsport, PA;  daughter, Heather van Raalte and her husband James, of Princeton, NJ;  four grandchildren, William McGehean, Fiona McGehean, Anders van Raalte and Grayson van Raalte.

A funeral mass is scheduled for 12 pm on November 5, 2022 at St. Vincent de Paul in Wildwood, followed by a reception immediately after at Colony Cottage in The Villages. Those who wish to remember Bill in a special way may make gifts in his memory to one of his favorite charities, Food for the Poor.
