Obituary
William Wesley Robertson, 84, of The Villages, Florida, formerly of Jacksonville, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2018 after a brief illness. Wanda, his wife of 61 years was by his side. Bill and Wanda moved to The Villages following his retirement from CSX Railroad in 2000. Bill was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing on the many courses in The Villages. He and Wanda attended Northlake Presbyterian Church. He was born in Alma, Michigan, the son of William and Alice Robertson. In the 1950’s following attendance at Muskingum University in Ohio, he played professional baseball. During the course of his playing years he was signed with the Boston Red Sox and the Atlanta Braves. Bill served in the US Army from 1957-58. Following his military service, he returned to pro ball for a year after which he began his career with the railroad. During their years in Jacksonville, Bill enjoyed playing softball and working as a basketball official. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a sister. He leaves behind his loving wife, Wanda; son, Randy; granddaughter, Brittany; and great-grandson, Asher. The family will be holding a celebration of life on April 23rd, at 11 am, at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218. In Lieu of flowers donations should be made in his name to Cornerstone Hospice of The Villages, FL.
