Obituary
William Ronald Eller, Sr. (74) passed away on May 3, 2016 after Lung Cancer surgery at Florida Memorial Hospital, Daytona Beach, FL. He was born March 21, 1942 in Reidsville, NC to William Alexander Eller and Yvonne Davis Eller. He was known as Ronald or Ronnie by family and Bill by friends and associates. He was a compassionate man, a wonderful husband, and always putting others feelings before his own.
He married Wanda Ladd Fulton Eller on April 8, 1972 of Winston Salem, NC. They were married at Pine Grove United Methodist Church. In 1973 they moved and lived in the Sedge Garden and Kernersville, NC area until 1996. They returned to Winston Salem, NC and remained there until 2010 when they moved to their vacation home in Palm Coast, FL . In 2015 they moved to Venetian Bay in New Smyrna Beach, FL.
After high school he enlisted in the U S Marine Corps and served four years stationed in Japan, Philippines, and as an instructor at Camp Lejeune, NC. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal E-4. Early in his career he worked in sales in insurance, homes, and self-service gasoline start up business. In 1971 he moved to the tire industry and worked for Goodyear, BF Goodrich, and Vestal. He retired from Parrish Tire in 2007 after 22 years managing inventory costs.
He was a member of Burkhead United Methodist Church in Winston Salem, NC and a member of Stokesdale United Methodist in earlier years. He was very active in the men’s group and on the church board at Burkhead. After moving to Florida he missed the association with his church family.
For many years in NC he loved taking the family on his boat to Belews Lake or Lake Norman. He was an avid golfer and runner until 2006 when his chronic back condition prevented him from enjoying those activities. He loved to travel, he and Wanda traveled to ten countries in Europe, also Mexico, Canada, Aruba, the Caribbean. They had traveled to all fifty states and just finished the last four in 2015. His stepson Gregg (as a teenager) bought a Chow (Sir Elton Bogart) and brought the puppy to the home. He loved and cared for this dog for nine years. It broke his heart when Bogie died. His favorite activity was going to the Nascar Races or in later years watching them on TV. He watched and understood all the politics on TV.
He is survived by his spouse, Wanda of New Smyrna Beach, one son William Ronald Eller, Jr. of Greensboro, NC, one step-son Gregory Donald Fulton, Bluffton, SC, and one granddaughter Daria Lynn Fulton, Bluffton, SC.
