Obituary

William (Bill) Gardner III, of Edgewater FL, born 9/3/50, he fought courageously but ultimately lost his battle with ALS on 8/24/16. Bill was born and raised in the Manchester NH area and moved to FL in 2012. Bill was a skilled finish carpenter, avid fisherman and hunter.  He was predeceased by his Mother, Dorothy Gardner, Father William Gardner II and brother, Dick Gardner.  He cherished his children Keith Gardner of Lynnwood, Wa, Shanda Pickhardt, her husband Jeff and their children Lola and Otis of Hood River, OR.  Bill was loved and cared for by many and two special women; Michelle Hirst of Edgewater FL his girlfriend and caretaker and Pam Holt of Hooksett NH his former Spouse. His siblings include Beverly Roukey and husband Paul of Chichester NH; Lynn Gardner of Edgewater FL, Ronald Gardner and wife Carole of Manchester NH, Jim Gardner and wife Jeanne of Edgewater FL, Debby Richard and husband Joe of Suncook NH, Bonnie Landry of Epsom NH, Craig Gardner of Manchester NH and sister-in-law Echo Gardner of New Smyrna Beach FL. His 13 nieces and nephews and 11 grand nieces and nephews will miss their fun and always giving Uncle Bill. Bill made friends easily and gathered at least 4 bus loads of true friends and family through his journey of life.  We are grateful for Team 17 of Vitas Hospice in Florida and the ALS Florida Chapter for their support of Bill through his disease.    Smiles were brought by Bill, and to Bill, during his surfing with Oceans of Hope.  In lieu of flowers; please donate to Oceans of Hope at www.oceansofhopefoundation.org.  (Note: Bill’s tab to pay tribute and photo is mid page)  The ALS Ice Bucket challenges were events Bill appreciated….please keep them going- Every August Until a Cure!   I’ve finished life’s chores assigned to me, So put me on a boat headed out to sea. Please send along my fishing pole For I’ve been invited to the fishin’ hole. Where every day is a day to fish, To fill your heart with every wish. Don’t worry, or feel sad for me, I’m fishin’ with the Master of the sea. We will miss each other for awhile, But you will come and bring your smile. That won’t be long you will see, Till we’re together you and me. To all of those that think of me, Be happy as I go out to sea. If others wonder why I’m missin’ Just tell ’em I’ve gone fishin’…

Bill's passing is a sad event in my life. I will always be proud of and grateful for the relationship we had. He is one of the strongest people I have ever known in many ways.
