Obituary

Willie Joe “Sock” Davidson, 81 years of age, was called home to his Lord & Savior on Saturday, May 2, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Davidson, who was known by all as “Sock” was born on February 7, 1939 at his childhood home to Lubie H. and Manie L. (Davis) Davidson, in East Prairie, Missouri.  He married Shirley R. (Merideth) Davidson on May 9, 1969 and she survives him in Ocala, Fl.

Along with his wife Shirley, Sock is survived by his 8 children:  Debbie (Ken) Bailey; Gary (Carrie) Davidson; Beth Woerner; Charles (Lisa) Fahnders; Delois (Wayne) Ledbetter; Sandra (Jesse) Davidson; Janice “Sissy” (Mike) Patton; Terry “Bubby” (Cheri) Davidson; adopted son: Donny (Joyce) Davidson ; 39 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters:  Carrie Lucille Scott; Judy (Rhandy) Lewis; Teresa (Scotty) Brawner; a brother: Stanley (Cindy) Davidson along with a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Sock was preceded in death by his parents: Lubie and Manie Davidson; a daughter: Sue McElhaney; a son: Larry Gene Davidson; four sisters and four brothers and one great-grandson.

As a child, Sock grew up helping his parents on their family farm in Missouri, which then led to his career in agriculture as a Farmer.   After retiring and moving to Florida, every time he would see a tractor or a farmer working the fields his eyes would light up with joy.   Sock was a true family man, taking care and spending time with his family was very important to him.  From having morning coffee with his twin children, to eating dinner and planning family gatherings.   Sock also enjoyed fishing and hunting, fish fry’s and cook outs.   Among all these hobbies, everyone knew not to interrupt him from watching his afternoon “Soaps”

Sock will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation for Sock will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 from 10:00 AM until the time of his service at 11:00 AM at the Berean Baptist Church, 4800 SW 20th Street, Ocala, FL 34474, with his son-in-law Dr. Mike Patton officiating.  Interment will immediately follow the Funeral Service in the Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens.

Good morning, dad. Just got back from having coffee with Mom, Janice and Bubby. Yes, they kept that up after you left. Not the same, but not a bad thing. Mom is enjoying the attention. I know Mom misses you because she talks about you all the time. The 4th is just a few days away, a holiday you always enjoyed here. Do you still celebrate holidays in heaven? I love you, dad. I really wish I had told you that more often. Thank you for raising us right. You did a great job. Never told you that. Give my daughter kiss.

Good morning, dad. I took a walk to you grave site this morning. It's a beautiful morning. I love you. Can you give Jessica a hug and kiss for me. I wander if you are fishing with your family in heaven today. Maybe you are with Uncle Paul. I'm sure you both know we are going to see her for the 4th. I know everyone will be talking about you two this weekend. I'm really happy that you are with Jessica. And Jesus. Until I write again. Love you

Good morning, Dad. The sun is shining this morning and beautiful here. But I know where you are it is much brighter. Dad, Bubby is having some knee problems, if you could, ask God to make a way where he can at least start playing horse shoes again. You know how he loves that game. Janice gave Bubby your Bible and he has it right next him. He touches every morning. Dad, Bubby reminds me of you more and more every day I sure do miss and love you. I regret not spending more time with you. Love you. Sandra Kay

You are missed so much, You can say your family loves you so very much. Bubby is still having the cookouts which he knows how much you loved them and he loves having the family over, yes we all sit around and talk about you and how much we miss you, and how hard headed you was;) Mike told me about the dream he had you sitting in your chair in Heaven and that you was up walking around, he saw you but could not speak to you. Daddy your baby girl has never hurt this bad and I know you would not want me to hurt and I am really trying to be strong, it is not easy!! I know God will get me through this. I LOVE YOU with all my heart. You should would love Levi he is at a wonderful age. I talk to you all the time, Love always your baby girl. Janice (Sissy)

I am going to miss you dad, you were a good father and thank you for all you have taught me throughout the years. I remember as a kid chopping beans and cotton in the summer time. Riding on the back of the tracker spraying weeds and falling asleep. Remembering Stanford Il the family get togethers playing the guitar. Always Friday and Saturday nights. Bubby thinking a skunk was a cat. I remember when Gary and I put bubby through the Shute in the house and you and mom were watching tv. All the Holidays. Time goes by to fast, I love you dad and will miss you. Love Charles and Lisa Fahnders
