Obituary
Yvonne Gail Schoedel, 82 of Ocala, Florida (formerly of New Boston, MI), passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on July 13, 2024.
Yvonne was born in Trenton, Michigan on January 5, 1942, to Mahlon and Hellen Gregersen. She graduated from Lincoln Park High School in 1959 and also attended Detroit Business School. Yvonne married John Schoedel on February 16, 1963.
Yvonne resided in Romulus, Michigan for 46 years, with her husband John. They ran a successful nursery and landscaping business, Schoedel’s Nursery. She was very active in her church, St. Paul Lutheran in New Boston, and she was also active in community politics. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and her extended family. After her husband passed, she retired to Ocala, Florida and had a large group of friends, who she considered her family. She belonged to the Sassy Hatitude Sisterhood Chapter of the Red Hats Society in Ocala. She also had a group of friends that she played cards with and had a group of friends from the dog park at Summerglen. She was able to travel extensively, and had just recently gone on a cruise. Yvonne was a force of life and her wit, sarcasm and sense of humor will be missed by so many.
Yvonne is survived by her son, John (Julie) Schoedel, daughter Lynda Dioszegi, and grandchildren Christian and Lauren Dioszegi. She leaves behind her brother-in-law Ronald Grose, sister-in-law, Bonnie Gregersen, nieces Kim (Jim) Affholter, Shawn (Scott) Polak, Dawn (Jeff) Whitmore and nephews Michael Grose and Ryan (Ina) Gregersen. She also leaves behind many great and great-great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, John, son-in-law Tim Dioszegi, her sister Barbara Grose and brother, Mike Gregersen.
A celebration of life will take place at the Summerglen Grand Hall on Friday, July 26 from 1:00pm-3:00pm.
