Obituary

Zandra Louise Johnson was born in Manhattan, New York to the late Samuel A. Johnson and Louise W. Johnson on November 7, 1959.  Zandra was the youngest of five siblings. She departed this life on November 12, 2017.

Zandra attended P.S. 125 elementary school and Hempstead High School.  She loved life, good food and was a true friend to those dearest to her.  Zandra volunteered at the Debra Ann House and made many of the clients there happy by talking with them and playing BINGO with them.  Zandra had an infectious laugh that made you want to laugh even if you tried not to.  One individual described her accurately by saying, “her strong will was admirable and her laugh was contagious.”

Zandra only had one child, her daughter D’Anna Johnson.  Zandra was a loving mother to her daughter and a devoted sister and aunt.  She was the one that kept in constant contact with others.  Zandra loved to talk; she would call her daughter 2-3 times a day to speak wanting to be sure she was alright and if there is anything she needs.  She was so devoted to her daughter that she would not hesitate to give her last to her.  D’Anna would always describe her mother saying “she is a good mother and my best friend.”

Zandra, had one sister, Corliss Johnson-Ortiz, and three brothers, Adrain, Derrick and Vergal Johnson (Adrain and Derick both predeceased her in death), and brother-in-law, Jarvis Ortiz.  Zandra leaves a treasure of nephews, cousins and friends.
