Solidified remains was a top contender in Fast Company's 2020 World-Changing Ideas Awards, which were announced on April 28th, 2020. The awards recognize businesses, policies, projects, and concepts that are actively engaged and deeply committed to resolving global challenges such as social injustice, mental health inequality, and climate change.
Parting Stone, the company that invented solidified remains, collaborated with material scientists at Los Alamos National Laboratory to develop a proprietary, patent-pending solidification process that returns the entirety of cremation remains to family members in the form of a collection of polished stones. A 100-pound human produces around 35 separate "stones" varying in size from thumbnail to palm.
