Parting Stone, the company that invented solidified remains, collaborated with material scientists at Los Alamos National Laboratory to develop a proprietary, patent-pending solidification process that returns the entirety of cremation remains to family members in the form of a collection of polished stones. A 100-pound human produces around 35 separate "stones" varying in size from thumbnail to palm.
