Obituary
The words “Live Well, Laugh Often and Live Much” come from a poem meant to define and remind us of a successful life. Diane was the physical embodiment of these words and while she was many good things to many different people, in all, she led, without question, a very successful life.
On June 6, 1935, in the small farm community of Moline, Illinois, Diane Marie Fjellman was born to Ada and Einer Fjellman.
She married Maurice Franklin Carpenter, also of Moline, Illinois, in October 1952.
They raised their four children in the Mid-West.
Diane and family moved to Osborn, Illinois in 1965 and spent many years working nearby for the Riverdale school district as an Elementary School bus driver.
In the late 60’s, she turned her attention to helping re-establish the Wilbert
Burial Vault company in Milan, Illinois with her husband and five employees.
Diane would later divorce and retire to Howey In The Hills, Florida where she became a vital part of the Howey community with many friends in the local book club and Howey Garden Club.
Her creative flower arrangements won their praise and awards.
Live Well, Laugh Often and Live Much was Diane’s way of being in this life.
Her grace, compassion and love will be missed by all. She was our rock to lean on and a
beacon of light during our times of need.
Diane is survived by her sister Sharon and spouse Gordon Davis
daughter Cheryl and spouse Bill Mehaffey . daughter Lynn and spouse Darin Surr . daughter Carrie Carpenter and partner Jerry Lloyd . son Scott Carpenter and spouse Cynthia Fuqua Carpenter . ten grandchildren and twelve great grand children.
She was preceded in death by her mother Ada and father Einer Fjellman and sister Nancy.
