Dorothy J. McClelland, 87, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at a local Hospice Care Center in Edgewater, FL. Dorothy was born September 28, 1923 in Highland Park, MI. She was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during World War II. Dorothy and her husband moved to New Smyrna Beach 1983 from Berkley, MI. She enjoyed painting, music and playing golf. Dorothy was a devoted wife. You could always find her and Bob on the golf course on any beautiful sunny day or driving to one of many spring baseball training camps. Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband, George LaPointe, 2nd husband, Robert McClelland and son, Richard LaPointe. She is survived by her loving children, Gary LaPointe of Drums, PA, Patrick McClelland of Roseville, MI, Michael McClelland of Daytona Beach, FL, Suzanne Otcasek of Brookline, MA and Michele LaPointe of Greenfield, MA; 12 grandchildren – Eron, Derek, Kristie, Greg, Nicole, Kirk, Alex, Erik, Bryan, Casey , Kevin, Kathleen; 12 great grandchildren – Adrien, Nelly, Emma, Brooklyn, Julia, Britten, Molly, Lucas, Mickey, Riley, Gabriel, Liam, and her brother, Donald Sprague of Livonia, MI.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, SE Care Center, 4140 S. Ridgewood Ave., Edgewater, FL 32141.
Private family services will be held.

You were a very strong woman and did things your way even until the end. Thank you for raising a wonderful son. I am so glad we were able to spend the last few years of your life with you, I know it meant a lot to both you and Gary. I really will miss you Mom. Be at peace. Love, Barb
