The world lost a kind and gentle man when Jack Allen Miller passed away at home on April 8, 2014. Jack was born on April 6, 1929 at Point Of Rocks, Maryland. He proudly served his
country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He also served in the United States Coast Guard and in the United States Merchant Marines aboard the SS Junior, the SS Steel Engineer and the SS Anniston City. He was a private pilot, Real Estate Broker and held a
Nevada Teacher's Certificate. Jack attended San Antonio College in Pomona, California, St Louis University-Metro College and graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. In 1957 he joined the West Covina, CA Police Department and
later retired from the North Las Vegas Police Department as Captain of Detectives. He often said he loved being a policeman more than breathing. Jack took the motto to protect and serve
very seriously. He exhibited respect, courtesy and kindness to everyone. One of his favorite sayings was "lf it never gets any better than this, it's good enough". Jack enjoyed golfing and
traveling in his motor home with his wife and cat Raggedy Andy and sharing stories with his quick wit with friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Harry
Miller. Jack is survived by his wife Betty Jean (BJ) Miller. They were married for 38 happy years living in Las Vegas, Nevada, Crystal River, Florida, and New Smyrna Beach, Florida. He is also survived by his Sister in Law, Marita Ann Dorr, Richmond, Virginia, as well as several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Baldwin Brothers Cremation
Society. A private family service is planned. Please do not send flowers but rather make donations in Jack's name to Haven Hospice, Deland, Florida. His heart is once again whole even though ours is breaking. Live, Laugh, Love and Leave the Rest to God.
