Obituary
Pat Chesley, Daytona Beach, lost her battle with COPD December 9th with her family by her side. She was born March 21st, 1941 to Paul and Mabel Norris Reese in Akron, Ohio, and moved to Mount Dora, FL when she was 6. Throughout her childhood she was immersed in the civil rights battle through her mother’s journalistic zeal to defend minorities in Lake County (and the world).
Upon her graduation from the University of Florida in 1966, Pat began teaching in Volusia County, first at Volusia Avenue Elementary, then South Daytona Elementary, New Smyrna Beach Middle School and finally retiring after 31 years from Campbell Middle School. During this time, she earned her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from UCF.
Pat’s hobbies included reading, sewing (especially quilting), and cheering for the Gators, but her passion was her dogs. She began puppy raising service dogs in the 90’s and continued raising and training dogs until her death.
Pat is survived by her daughter Cindy, her granddaughter, Lindsey Gonzalez (Hector), her 3 great-grandchildren, McLaryn, Enzo, and Bentley Gonzalez, and her stepchildren Donna, Allen, Daryl and Craig Chesley.
Please join us for a Celebration of her life at 4:00 pm on Sunday, December 20th at the My Angel With Paws Training Facility, 3098 Marsh Rd, DeLand, FL.
