I realize it has been 4 years since Wayne’s passing. I just tracked it down. My name is John Wilson I was kind of the adopted little brother of Wayne is the summers between his Sophomore and senior year. ( I am 6 years younger). Don’t remember how we connected but I remember his first Yellow Ford Fairlane, I used to go in the car with him to AMERICAN Legion baseball games in the summer, he taught me how to drive and I used to go with him, To pick up his dates in the summer. I remember his Mom and Dad and the terrible car wreck they were in. Anna Bee use to shine our shoes before we would go to church. I still have a scrap book of his basketball season his senior year.
Your dad was really an amazing guy and taught me so many things
God bless your family

As a kid visiting my grandparents in Shawnee every summer some how, I became like a little brother to Wayne. I was 8 years younger and have so many great memories. His first car when he was 16, the Yellow ford, standard on the column. He took me to AMERICAN Legion games, went to see him everyday when he worked at Salvation Army. I have a scrap book of all of his Basketball success’s at Shawnee. His mother Anna Bee was the greatest, and Lloyd was a quiet super guy. I Remember when they were in their terrible car wreck. I am so sorry that I didn’t hear About Wayne’s passing, he was 1 of a kind.

Even though he was only two years older, Wayne Smith was my boyhood idol. One of the best all around high school athletes ever at Shawnee High School. Football, basketball, baseball, track, he was excellent at them all. Wayne's family and my family went to Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma so I was around him a lot during grade school, middle school, high school years. I am extremely saddened at his passing.
