BECKLER
Ruth Elaine Mockett Beckler (84) of Port Orange passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, December 14, 2016. Ruth was born January 16, 1932 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and grew up in Bergen County, New Jersey. She met the love of her life, Joseph John Beckler, in 1964 and they married in 1966. The family moved to Altamonte Springs, Florida from New Jersey in 1973, and Ruth and Joe retired to The Villages in 1999 where they enjoyed holiday parades, golf, playing cards, going downtown, and spending time with friends and family. The couple celebrated 50 years of marriage in March of this year. Ruth is survived by her spouse Joseph and her four children Richard (Margaret) Bibby, Cathlamet, Washington, Darlene Elizabeth Mabry, Altamonte Springs, Florida, Donna Rita (Robert) Codianne, of Port Orange, and Jolene Diane (Daniel) McAbee of Simpsonville, South Carolina. She is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Ruth is predeceased by her loving father and mother, Dr. Walter William and Eleanor Mockett, and survived by her four younger siblings, Cecile Boos of Ava, Missouri, Bruce (Rita) Mockett of Tampa, Florida, Walter (Maxine) Mockett, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Mary Sadler, of Colorado. Ruth took great pleasure in being a homemaker and will be remembered for her big personality, vivacious laugh, her ability to talk to anyone and her love of a good bargain. She was a devoted wife and mother, and shared a love of many special doggies throughout her life. The family will gather in Mt. Dora in January near her birthday to celebrate her life.
