Obituary
Thelma Jean Walters, 70, of Port Orange, Florida passed away on January 27, 2017 at the Halifax Health Hospice Port Orange Care Center. She was born on December 24, 1946 in Coalwood, West Virginia to the late Herman Andrew Tabor and Ruby (Carroll) Tabor. Jean was a former employee of the Daytona Beach City Hall and she was the Head of Registration at Daytona State College, where she was employed for more than 30 years. She enjoyed helping students direct their career paths and working alongside those she would call her friends. She was a talented artist and enjoyed making various crafts. Jean is survived by her daughter, Lisa Swingle of Citrus Springs, Florida; her granddaughter, Analisa Swingle of Citrus Springs, Florida; her son-in-law, Mike Swingle of Citrus Springs, Florida; her brother, Allen Tabor of Seattle, Washington; her brother, Buddy Tabor of Daytona Beach, Florida; her sister, Cathy Clark of Daytona Beach, Florida; and her sister, Helen Tabor of Maryland. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Walters and her son, Chris Walters. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of South Daytona, 2197 Kenilworth Ave., Daytona Beach, FL 32119. Arrangements are in the care and trust of Baldwin Brothers Funeral and Cremation Society, Port Orange, Florida.
