Obituary
Robert Sparrow (“Bob” or “Gaga”) died March 30, 2017 in his Winter Park home, following a long illness which he stubbornly fought to the end.
He leaves his wife of 37 years, Lynne Sparrow. Bob and Lynne loved each other from their first kiss, were inseparable, and they remained best friends until his passing.
Bob was born August 27, 1929 and was raised in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. He was an officer in the US Army who then went on to successful sales careers with companies such as National Cash Register, GTE and Panasonic. Once he retired, Bob enjoyed watching his seven grandchildren grow and delighted in their accomplishments. Ty, Bryan, Katie, Kristen, Christopher, Aaron and Lauren will all miss his sweet demeanor and unwavering support. The only time Grandpa wasn’t calm was when he was cheering on his favorite football team, the Ohio State Buckeyes!
Bob will also be missed by his sister, Barbara Sparrow, and his children, Bruce Sparrow and Diane Gibson. Diane will fondly remember, among other things, the meticulous hand drawn maps that her Dad would produce when she asked him for driving directions.
Bob was lucky to have a “second family” to love and celebrate life with, including Lynne’s children, Ellen Jacobs and Joe Broadhurst, along with their spouses, David Jacobs and Jeannie Broadhurst. The family will especially treasure the fun times spent together by Lake Minnehaha.
Contributions in Bob’s memory may be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (lls.org). The family plans to hold a Celebration to honor Bob’s life at a later date.
Thank you for being such a great husband for my mother, a fantastic step father to me & my wife and wonderful grandfather to my children. You've been a major part of my life for 39 years & I'll always cherish your kindness. We've all learned so much from you, one of the nicest people I'll ever know. So long for now. Regards.
