Obituary
Rockey Andrew Watts of Apopka, 68, passed away late Monday evening on December 11, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Yates Center, Kansas on November 3, 1949 to parents Bernard Earl Watts and Margaret Elizabeth Abbey. He is survived by his older brother Bradley Watts and younger siblings Tena Bush, Carl Watts, Marla Shinkle, and Della Blessie. He will also be dearly missed by his loving wife Michelle Wilson Watts, his son Andrew Watts, his daughter Abbey Weber, and countless other friends and family members who loved him. Rockey served in the military in the ‘60s and enjoyed his time in Alaska, where he supported cryptographic messaging. He was immensely grateful for the scholarship he received through his service, and attended the University of Florida as a Fine Arts major. Rockey was a devoted husband and father who very much lived to care for his family. A joyful and kind person, Rockey greeted everyone he met with a friendly wave and a smile. He was a lover of nature and art, often commenting, “That’s pretty wild,” to the wonders he saw all around him. Rockey enjoyed peaceful mornings on his patio, whistling a tune and drinking a cup of coffee. Most of all, he was fond of laughter. Light-hearted jokes and meaningful conversation were his forte. For those who wish to attend, a service in honor of Rockey will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Apopka on December 23, 2017 at 2:00 in the afternoon. Rockey’s gentle spirit and generosity brightened the lives of all who knew him. While he will be severely missed, his light will burn brightly in our hearts forever.
