Obituary

Darlene Lucile (Mohr) Gerbitz, age 90, of Ocala, Florida passed away after a sudden onset with Pneumonia, that required a  short stay in Munroe Regional Medical Center (NMRC) and The Legacy House, then returning home under Hospice Care.  She was born on February 5, 1927, in (Fort Winnebago) Portage, Wisconsin daughter of Leonard Mohr and Verda Mildred (Schmidt) Nehrlich. She grew up in the spirit of the church receiving confirmation on February 1, 1942 at St. John’ s Evangelist Lutheran Portage, Wisconsin.  She married Howard Merlin Gerbitz on November 24, 1945, and had eleven children. Later in life, she married Lyle Davison on September 9, 1987. Darlene was a devoted housewife caring for her children, but also worked at Columbia County Manor, Portage Hosiery and Modern Cleaners.  Darlene is survived by her sons, Randy (Sandy) Gerbitz of Ocala, FL; Jeffery (Sue) Gerbitz of Carmichael, CA; Howard Lee (Lian) Gerbitz of Ocala, FL; daughters, Patti (Real) Pinard of La Mesa, CA; Sheila Pavelec of Ocala, FL; Sheri (Russ) Manthey of Maryville, TN; daughter-in-law, Jacquie Gerbitz of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, son-in-law Steve Jones of Fitchburg, Wisconsin; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and her most cherished four legged companion, Mitzi. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Howard M. Gerbitz and Lyle Davison; four sons, the Rev Larry Gerbitz, Richard Gerbitz, Lorry Gerbitz and infant Steven Gerbitz; daughter Linda D. Jones and brother Melvin Mohr.   Baldwin Brothers of Ocala, FL and Ryan Funeral Home of Madison, WI are coordinating arrangements of interment.  A celebration of Darlene’s life and visitation will be held on Dec 16, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park, 401 Femrite Drive, Monona, Wisconsin.  Following, the family will sponsor a gathering at World Buffet, ​​2451 W. Broadway in Monona.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the staff at The Legacy House Hospice Care; especially her nurse Rachell Bishop, LPN and all the Hospice Nurses who cared for her at home.  A sincere thank you to Hospice Nurse, Nidia Martinez, LPN for being there in her final moments and special prayer.
