Obituary

Charles (Woody/Chuck/Papa) Franklin Woodward, 78, of Elkhart, passed away on 3/5/18, surrounded by his family, in his North Fort Myers, Florida vacation home.

Charles was born in Kendallville Indiana to Orla & Inez Woodward 1/24/40. He graduated from Elkhart High School in 1958. He married Sharon ‘Sue’ Butcher on 11/11/60 in Elkhart. Chuck worked at Excel Industries for 22 years before joining Riblet Products for 8 years and then ran C F Woodward & Associates for approximately 23 years, a very successful lawn maintenance & landscaping company with his wife Sue. Chuck served in the Army & reserves, over a 4 year period of time; a portion of this was during the Berlin Crisis.

Chuck was known by many as a great friend, a devoted family man and someone who was called upon countless times to be a handy man for virtually any type of project.  He was a very positive, energetic and happy person to be around. We could always count on seeing him with a smile & hearing his many stories/opinions about anything sports related, (especially basketball), his muscle car days, his daughters & 3 grandchildren and the many family related vacations taken in virtually every corner of North America. Chuck’s hobbies included spending time with his family traveling, being a master gardener at his farm, attending car shows with his “Pumpkin” (1937 Ford Truck) & helping many of us with our various projects.

Chuck was proceeded in death by his parents, Orla & Inez Woodward, brothers Pat, Tom, Butch, Sue’s parents, Charles & Margaret Butcher.

Chuck is survived by Sue his wife of 57 years, daughters Michelle (Alex) Strati, Rachel Woodward, brother William Woodward, grandchildren Aubrey Strati, Noah (Alix) Strati & Samantha Strati along with many lifelong  friends here in Elkhart & North Fort Myers.

According to his wishes Chuck will be cremated in North Fort Myers. At this time no service is planned. The family is asking that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to any local Hospice, Cancer or Heart organization in Chuck’s memory.

Affordable Crematoins by Baldwin Brothers is honored to serve the Woodward family.
