Obituary
Ralph Ludwig Giddish age 95 passed away on April 14, 2018 at Halifax Hospice Care in Port Orange, Florida. Mr. Giddish was born on March 6, 1923 in Atlanta, Georgia to Paul L. and Susie Mae Giddish. Mr. Giddish is survived by his spouse of 64 years, Bernice Robinson Giddish. He is also survived by his two children, Paula Buchar and Charles L. (Nita) Giddish. He has four grandchildren: Chelsea Buchar Simmons, Sean Buchar, Kelli Giddish, and Eli Giddish. He also has one great-grandson, Ludo Faulborn (Kelli). He has one sister, Mildred Gover, several nieces and nephews, and other family members. He was a strong and loving husband, father, and PawPaw who loved poetry, the performing arts, gardening, fishing, the Braves and the Falcons. Ralph attended Tech High in AtIanta where he played center on the basketball team. In 1943 he joined the military in the midst of World War II. He served in the Mighty 8th Air Force as a B-24 radio operator and received the Distinguished Flying Cross after flying thirty three missions over France and Germany. After being honorably discharged from the military, he returned to Atlanta, Georgia where he graduated from the University of Georgia and began his thirty three year career at AT&T. Ralph and Bernice lived the majority of their married life in Atlanta, Georgia; however, in 2001 they moved to New Smyrna Beach, and then in 2016 they moved to Port Orange. A private family ceremony to honor Ralph is being planned for the near future.
