DAYTONA BEACH, FL – Doris B. Venables (nee Brook), on July 13, 2018, of Daytona Beach; formerly of Stratford, passed away peacefully at the age of 91. Born December 9, 1926, in Philadelphia, the daughter of John and Anna (nee Miller) Brook. Beloved wife of the late Raymond T. Venables. Devoted mother of Keith T. Venables (Diane) and the late Brian T. Venables (Beryl). Loving grandmother of Lauren, Blair, Tara (Mike), Robyn (James), Megan, Kyle, and Craig. Doris was raised in Bala Cynwyd, PA and later moved to Collingswood. She studied fashion design at Moore College of Art. In her early 20’s, she worked as a secretary in the Public Ledger Building in Philadelphia. Doris enjoyed dancing, and it was at a local dance where she met her husband, Ray. After raising her sons, she worked alongside Ray and Brian in the family insurance business. She was an excellent cook and seamstress, making many of her own dresses. Her other interests included golf, painting, traveling, and reading. Doris requested there be no services, and she will be privately cremated. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in Doris’s memory to Halifax Health Hospice, Port Orange Care Center, 3800 Woodbriar Tr., Port Orange, Florida 32129.
