Obituary
On November 6, 2018, in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Brad “Doc” Fredette, husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 73. He was preceded in death by his parents, older brother Paul and beloved dogs Baylie and Hal. He is survived by “the wind beneath my wings”, best friend and wife of 51 years, Mary, two smart, independent daughters, Marie and Patty, two strong, caring sons-in-law, Bill and Mark and three sweet, engaging granddaughters, Aliya, Melise and Kaelyn. Brad was loved and respected and best known for his humor, loyalty and twinkling green eyes. He was an entrepreneur at heart and had a passion for lifelong learning. Nearly every moment was an opportunity for laughter or a lesson (usually both) with something important to take away and apply to the next challenge. Failure was just a stepping stone; he saw potential everywhere and wasn’t afraid to work hard to bring his visions to life. Born in the Bay Area of San Francisco, Brad was the owner of several successful businesses in California and Arizona before retiring to Florida. He was a proud and patriotic American who served his country for over 20 years, beginning as a Hospital Corpsman serving with the Marines in Vietnam where he received the Silver Star Medal for his heroic actions, exceptional professional ability and tireless devotion to duty. A few years later he was named Naval Reservist of the year. He then went on to be a Medic in the Army Reserves and retired as a Sergeant Major. A service with military honors is planned for November 13 at 11AM at Cape Canaveral , National Cemetery. A celebration will be held afterwards at 1:30PM’ in the Oceanwalk Rec Room 2 in New Smyrna Beach. In lieu of flowers, a donation to your favorite organization that supports Veterans would be most meaningful.
