Obituary
Herman C. Rauch of New Smyrna Beach, 95, husband of Alice (nee Flassig), passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018.
Born May 28, 1923 on a farm in Tinley Park, Illinois, to the late Carl and Annie nee Kelber Rauch.
At age 19 he married his wife, Alice of 76 years. They lived in Blue Island, IL for 25 years where they raised their two daughters. Herman served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he worked at Electro Motors, a division of General Motors, for 22 years. Then, they moved to a farm in Plainfield, WI. After 15 years of farming, they moved to Cullom, IL where they became “snowbirds”. In 1989, they moved permanently to New Smyrna Beach, FL. He served Trinity Lutheran Church in many ways, one of which was cutting fabric for the Women’s Workshop quilting circle.
He is survived by daughters, Carolee Gleim and Shirley Niemeyer; 3 grandchildren, Charlene nee Gleim Quezada (Emilio), Julie nee Niemeyer Gullifer (James III), Jon Gleim; 3 great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Emily and Jeremy Quezada. He is also survived by his brother, Robert E. Rauch of Mattoon, IL and preceded in death by 3 sisters, Marie Bothwell, Malinda VanSwol, Lillian Darby and 3 brothers, Henry, Martin and Carl Rauch.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 11:00a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church 485 Turnbull Bay Road, New Smyrna Beach. With a celebration of life and a light luncheon in the fellowship hall after the service.
