Obituary
Adorable mother, nana, and aunt, Lucille Rakosky, passed away peacefully in hospice on Monday February 25th of a worn-out, much-used heart. She was 88.
She was the last of her generation of stubborn Moran women who were beautiful, intelligent, funny and lovable.
Lucy was renowned for her love of reading, nature, noodles, flowers, Butterfinger candy bars, Christmas decorations and crossword puzzles. But mostly she will be remembered for her unconditional kindness to everyone she met. She was a woman of deep faith who lived it everyday, in all she did.
Lucille Annette Moran joined the Navy at Camp Pendleton CA in 1953 as an RN. It was here she met and fell in love with John Rakosky. They were married for 52 years when he passed away in 2008. Later in her career, Lucy cared for the elderly in one of the first Assisted Living Facilities.
She will be enormously missed by her children Kara, John, Donna and Paul and by her grandchildren Brandon, Kyle, Erin, Stefan and Rachael (she was our friend, cheerleader and confidant), her nieces and nephews as well as by all her kind and loving friends at Legacy of Leesburg.
Immediate family will celebrate her life on Sanibel Island—a place of family vacations—where she loved to walk the beach collecting shells, observe nature and sip a mojito.
