Obituary
Andrew Ruben, 80, of Edgewater, FL, formerly of Clymer, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2020 at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach, FL, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the son of John and Mary (Betsa) Ruben, born February 8, 1940 in Clymer, PA.
Andy graduated from Clymer High School in 1958 and went on to graduate from Indiana State Teachers’ College as a social studies teacher. He taught at Penns Manor School District for 34 years. Andy also coached football for many years.
He will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful husband, dad, grandfather, brother, and friend to so many people. Andy was an avid Steeler fan. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and reading.
Andy was a member of the Clymer Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder and choir member. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge #313, Scottish Rite Consistory of Altoona, Jaffa Shrine of Altoona, and the B.P.O.E #931 of Indiana, PA.
He is survived by his wife, Donna (Stake) Ruben of almost 60 years of Edgewater, FL; daughter, Lori Laverick and husband, Gregg of Indiana, PA; grandson, Michael Laverick and wife Paula of Martinsburg, WV; two great-grandsons Augustine and Constantine; two brothers Ron Ruben and wife Patti of Rockville, MD, George Ruben and wife Juanita of McClean, VA; three brothers-in-law Gary Stake and wife Irene of Orange City, FL, Jay Stake and wife Jeannette wife of Rockwell, NC, and David Stake and wife Jeanie of Leeper, PA.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents, brother, John Ruben, in-laws Clarence and Ruth Stake, and sister-in-law Bennie Stake.
At his request there will be no visitation or service. Private arrangements are being handled by Baldwin Brothers of New Smyrna Beach, FL.
