Obituary
Harold Glen Green, 84, of Titusville FL passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2020. He was born on October 21, 1935 in Pennsylvania to Theodore and Media Green. He married Diana (Collins) Green on September 3, 1964. They were married for almost 60 years. He is survived by his wife Diana, sons Tim Green and David Green of Titusville FL, and 3 grandchildren (Casey, Jordan, and Jonathan).
In spite of severe physical disabilities at birth, Harold’s determination, persistence, and great faith in God enabled him to do what seemed impossible. He and his wife served with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Brazil for 49 years. They lived in the Amazon jungle with the Palikur people for twelve years while they translated the New Testament into their language. Today Palikur people are pastors of their own churches, teachers in their own government sponsored schools, and technicians in their own clinic. The Greens put the language into written form, taught the people to read and write, prepared school materials, produced a dictionary of over 8,000 entries in the language, and published many linguistic articles. They later had a significant part in checking and approving translations in 35 other languages, which now have New Testaments or full Bibles in print.
He will be remembered for his gentle loving spirit and his refusal to let anything stop him.
A memorial service will hopefully be held in July 2020 at the Great Outdoors Community Church. The date is not yet certain due to Covid-19. Condolences may be sent to Diana Green, 2660 St Paul’s Dr, Titusville FL 32780. Memorial donations may be made to Prison Book Project, 3880 S. Washington Avenue, Suite 154, Titusville, FL 32959 or online at touchinglives@prisonbookproject.com. Arrangements entrusted to Baldwin Brothers, 2400 S. Washington Avenue, Titusville.
