Obituary
Raymond (Ray) Eugene Price passed away peacefully July 17th in the arms of his loving wife Ruth Price (nee’ Heine), Ray, born September 3, 1934, was a native of Middle Village, NY, and the only son of Raymond and Madeline Price (nee’, Schreiner). As a young man he joined the police department in NYC, spending 8 years on the force, he then transferred to his life’s passion – the NYC Fire Department. Ray will forever be known as the lieutenant for Ladder 31 in the South Bronx – where during his time it was called The Big House as it was the busiest fire station in the world. He loved his brothers in the department like family and could still be heard telling great stories and laughing about his adventures on the job in the days before his passing.
After retiring from the fire department he moved to Miami, FL. where he was involved with real estate and owned and operated a couple of retail specialty stores. Missing the change of seasons, he moved to New England living in Rhode Island and Massachusetts until finally settling in The Villages 5-years ago.
Ray was a funny man, who had many stories to tell and loved nothing more than to pull someone’s leg. He was passionate about his New York Giants and faithfully watched them yelling at the TV, convinced that if they just listened to him they might actually win! He loved to cruise the Caribbean Islands and spend time in the Dominican Republic, soaking up the sun and enjoying sandy beach days with his wife, a good book, and a cocktail. He was loved by all who met him, drawn to his peaceful nature, sense of humor and easy smile.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Ruth Price, his loving daughters Mary Gay of Bronxville, NY and Christine Roberts of Wayland, MA., sons – in – law William Gay and Paul Roberts, his much adored grandchildren Chris, Charlie, Derek, Annabelle and Andrew and his in – laws Carl and Judy Heine of Norton, MA, and Marilyn and Mark Steinberg of Sarasota, FL. and many, many friends in The Villages.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. It was our pleasure to have known your father and see the influence he has had on you and your family. Know that Ray is and will always be with each if you.
All our love,

Although it’s been a while since I’ve seen your Dad, he left an indelible mark on my heart. He always made me laugh and feel so comfortable in your home so many years ago. May his soul be at peace and may you and your families be comforted with all of your wonderful memories.
