Obituary

Marie Dority Migner “Nana”, 101, went to be with the Lord on September 11,2020.

She was born in Sedgewick, Maine on June 15, 1919 to the late Arthur and Mildred Dority. She was also preceded in death by her husband John M. Migner of Biddeford, Maine, her sister Eleanor Parker of Ft. Pierce, Florida and 2 brothers, Stanley Shepherd of Phoenix, Arizona and Tim Masterman of Ocala, Florida, a son Charles Arthur Rendall and a great-granddaughter, Luca.
She is survived by one daughter, Sally Springstead and her husband Keith of Salem, Oregon and two sons, Channing Migner and his wife Andy of Boxboro, Massachusetts and Peter Migner and his wife Becky of DeLand, Florida; 13 grandchildren, Leslie Fraser of Framingham, Massachusetts, Ani Glaser of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Nichole Glaser of Redvale, Colorado, Elise McGiverin (David) of Waxhaw, North Carolina, Jeremy Migner of Weaverville, North Carolina, Chris Migner of Charlotte, North Carolina, Taylor Migner (Jennifer) of Northbridge, Massachusetts, Julia Migner of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Chelsea Magnuson (Wesley) of Saco, Maine, Rayna Vagnier (James) of Orange City, Florida, and Levi, Newman and Brigette Migner all of DeLand, Florida; 13 great-grandchildren Elliot, Tenar, Reya, Kellen, Jack, Moriah, Alex, Olivia, Kendall, Chloe, Salvadora, Lucille, Ryder and her very special friend and caregiver Sally Kendall.
She was actively involved in many community organizations including a leader of the National and local Amvets Auxiliaries, Chamber of Commerce, Maine Literacy League, News Correspondent, Welcome Wagon, and Daughters of the American Revolution among many others. She was an entrepreneur, owning a clothing store, a hot dog stand and a hotel. She worked a wide variety of jobs including switchboard operator, real estate agent, salesperson, census taker and Justice of the Peace. A fiercely patriotic lifelong democrat she worked as a campaign volunteer and a poll worker and organized political meetings and rallies. She was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene and served as church treasurer, recording secretary and historian.
Nana was always up for an adventure and made many of her dreams come true; she met President Lyndon Johnson and had tea with his wife, Lady Bird. In her 80’s she rode in a hot air balloon and rode a jet-ski and she co-piloted a plane at age 93. She was the “Boxboro Cane” recipient at age 97. She loved gardening, history, genealogy, cats, crafting, reading, eating lobster and drinking “a nice hot cup of tea”. She had a great sense of humor and was an amazing storyteller. She will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00pm on Sunday, September 13th at DeLand Church of the Nazarene and broadcast live at youtube.com/delandnaz . There will be a committal service in Saco, Maine at a later date.
