Obituary
Domenic Vincent D’Agresta was born May 11, 1931, in Boston Mass., and passed away December 29, 2020, in Port Orange, Fl. He was born “Domenico”,to Gaetano C., and Angelina (De Zarcoma) D’Agresta. Domenic was a first generation born citizen, and the last of his siblings, Vincenzo, Betina, Gaetano, and Angelina. He is survived by his wife Sally-Mae, and children, Steven, Peter, David, and Suzanne (Neely), along with three grandchildren.
Domenic told many stories of growing up in a cold water flat in an East Boston tenement, but he had a understated, and observant sense of humor about his life. One of his best lines was that he “didn’t realize pasta was not meat, until he was 16!”.
Domenic graduated from Boston Technical High School in 1947, and joined the Navy in August of 1952. He served aboard the USS Worcester as a weatherman, being Honorably discharged in May of 1954. He married Sally in August of 1958, at Saint Columbkille, and began his family in Brighton Mass. Starting in the field of Civil Engineering, Domenic and family moved to the Daytona Beach area of Florida in 1968. He was part of the design and construction of what is now Disney World, and enjoyed pointing out landmarks that he helped design, along the I-4 corridor in that area. His last official job was with the city of Daytona Beach, as a Deputy City Engineer.
Never one to be inactive, and highlighting his incredible work ethic, Domenic volunteered as a math teachers assistant at Campbell Middle school. He also volunteered at Worc Workcenter, a local non-profit training center for the mentally disabled, and spent several years as a volunteer mediator in the Volusia County courts. Until just before his death, he still consulted a local developer on building plans to be submitted to the city for permit approval.
Throughout his life, Domenic’s focus was always providing for his family. You will be missed, Rest In Peace.
