Obituary
Kenneth Dean Lauridsen was born on March 24, 1947, to Earl and Elizabeth Lauridsen in San Pierre, Indiana. He passed away in the hospital after a hard-fought battle with Covid in Altamonte Springs, Florida, on January 10, 2021. Ken kept contact with all of his family throughout his ordeal via text and cell phone all the way up to his admission into the intensive care unit. He took the time with each family member to respond to our texts and calls with humor and faith, often using his bitmoji, which we all joked looks exactly like him. While he could not be physically surrounded by family due to this horrible virus and the limitations it places on hospital visitation, he was emotionally surrounded and supported by his entire family throughout. His courage as he fought this battle was both remarkable and inspirational to us all. We are heartbroken at his passing but encouraged by his final words to us all that he has just entered a new journey beyond this world to the next.
Ken retired in 2019 from the Seminole County State Attorney’s Office after twenty plus years of dedicated service as their tech support lead. He was known by all there as the guy who could solve any problem they had and who they could count on to help them without hesitation and always with a smile. The ladies in his office joked that he was the guy who always smelled so good. He gave each of them a small bottle of his famous aftershave when he retired.
Ken loved his family and friends with all his heart and was always willing to help and open his home and heart to all. He is survived by his loving wife, Rose Tribuzio Lauridsen, son Jeffrey (Luly) Lauridsen, daughter Lori Lauridsen, son Jason Lauridsen, grandsons JJ and Andy Lauridsen, sister Deborah (Roger) Kleist, sister Denise (Larry) Koebcke, and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and others who saw Ken as a father or grandfather figure in their lives, notably Becky (Olivier) Wambe and baby Noah. Ken was an avid sportsman and loved fishing, shooting, and going out on his boat to enjoy nature and time with friends and family. He loved cooking on his grill and often smoked and deep fried multiple Thanksgiving turkeys for his family and neighbors. He was a master at preparing the best omelette you’ve ever had. He loved woodworking and was definitely a DYI sort of guy who did most all of his own repairs, landscaping, and remodeling. He, along with his wife Rose, were dedicated to caring for his parents in the final years of their lives. Ken loved going to his grandsons’ sporting events and cheering them on. He was so proud of each of his sons and his daughter and loved the close relationship they all had. Ken will be missed by all, and his spirit of kindness and generosity will remain for all who knew him as a testament to a life well-lived. We will be having a celebration of Ken’s life to be announced at a later date.
