Obituary
Pauline (Morian) Smith-Trebbe passed away peacefully in her sleep on Feb. 27, 2021. She is survived by her husband, Shannon Trebbe, her sister, Patsy Tomko, her four children, Dennis Morian, Kathleen Lyman, Karen Morian, Ph.D., Melanie Anderson, nieces Judy and Jan, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Russell and Evelyn Smith, her brother, William Smith, and her nephew, Donald Tomko.
Pauline was born in Hickory, PA, graduated from Jamestown HS and attended Edinboro College. She completed her B.S. at Florida State University and attended graduate school at UCF. She taught in the Volusia County Public School District her entire career, mostly at New Smyrna Beach Jr. and Sr. High Schools, but also at Spruce Creek and Pierson. She was a proud member of the National Education Association and the Volusia Education Association. At NSBHS, she created the Culinary Arts and Pre-K Childcare programs, and was voted Teacher of the Year in 1980.
Pauline loved the outdoors. Her hobbies included swimming, hiking and beach walking, oil painting, and travel. Her volunteer work included the Daytona Beach Symphony Guild and Meals on Wheels.
