Donald R. Tyson 2 July 1947 – 8 April 2021
Donald R. Tyson passed away on April 8, 2021. He was 73 years old and was a resident of Hernando, Florida since 2003. When Donald was 17, he wanted to join the military and he did so on 5 August 1964. He joined the U.S. Navy where he remained for 25 years. Donald advanced quickly, having made Chief Petty officer (Torpedoman’s Mate) in 10 years. He was assigned to many shore and sea commands during his service. During that time he was an instructor for 4 years for the MK 46 torpedo in Orlando, Florida and also served 4 years as a nuclear weapons inspector in San Diego, California. In 1981, he was selected for a commission and promoted to Chief Warrant Officer CWO-2 and subsequently retired as a Chief Warrant Officer CWO-4 surface ordnance technician.
Following military retirement he worked for Mclaughlin Research Corporation in San Diego, California as a program manager for the MK 50 torpedo, a realtor for Century 21 All Service in El Cajon, and Barona Casino as a video technician in Lakeside, California.
He is survived by his son David of Murrieta CA and his son Robert of Orlando FL. He is also survived by his great grandson, Mason of Ohio, and his grandchildren, Kayleigh of Ohio, Nicholas and Matthew of Murrieta CA, and Alex, Alyssa, and Alaina of Orlando FL
