Obituary
Richard “Dick” Goosman passed away peacefully on March 29, 2021, after a lengthy battle against Covid-19, in The Villages, FL at the age of 78. Although his mind was strong to the very end, his body was unable to overcome this battle, despite the heroic efforts by the UF health system.
Richard is survived by his wife, Vicky McLean; his children Kim Goosman, David Goosman (Kelligrace Larson) and Scott Goosman (Elisabeth Urso); his stepson Mead McLean (Cody Amakali); his Grandchildren, Zachary Ryan Goosman and Cameron Dylan Goosman; his step grandson Scout Amakali; and his cousin, Maud Ray who was like a sister to him. He is preceded in death by his parents Cecile Flanagan and Frederick Goosman.
Richard was born on December 12, 1942, in New York, NY to Frederick Zaring Goosman and Cecile Ann Flanagan. He graduated from University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering. Richard was an accomplished pilot and loved to fly at any opportunity. He was an educated and well-read individual who loved science and engineering and who was passionate to discuss ideas and technology with a particular passion for military knowledge specifically, the Air Force, Civil War battles and battlefields. Richard was a social, active man who was a pilot and Angel Flights volunteer. He was a natural explorer who was always searching for an adventure whether visiting the pyramids as a child, diving with Caribbean sharks or flying across the country in his own plane.
The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
