Obituary

Lou Wright

1953 – 2021

Lou Ann Wright, age 67, entered into rest on August 22, 2021. Lou was born in Buffalo, NY on December 7, 1953 to Richard S. Sacco and Barbara Ann Marie Aaron.

Lou is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Douglas S. Wright, son Doug Wright Jr. (and wife Katie), daughter Susie Allgeyer (and husband Sean), daughter Shana Wright, brothers Steven Sacco, Eddie Lowery, Robbie Lowery and sister Melaine Lowery. She deeply loved her five grandchildren, Carston, Berkeley, Colin, Olivia and Isla.

Lou graduated from Miami Carol City Senior High School, where she met her husband Doug, and the couple soon began a life together in Cocoa Beach. She spent her days at the beach and traveling to various surf spots around the world with her husband, making lifelong friends in the surf industry along the way.

After receiving her degree from (then) Brevard Community College, Lou received her Montessori Certification. For 32 years, she proudly worked as a preschool and kindergarten teacher at Indian Harbour Montessori from 1986 to 2018. For over three decades, she shaped the lives of countless students and paved the way for their success. She created many fond memories for the staff, students and families during her time there. Lou’s caring heart and generous spirit not only left an indelible mark on the school, but on the lives of each student, family and teacher she came in contact with, many of whom kept in touch years later. A true believer in the Montessori philosophy, she trained many teachers as well, furthering the spirit of love and kindness to everyone who walked through the doors.

After retirement, Lou spent her free time in her butterfly garden, reading, and fostering her children’s businesses by managing her daughter Susie’s acupuncture practice and keeping the books at her son and husband’s business. The family joked often that Lou became busier after she retired. Lou loved being outdoors, hiking and traveling to the mountains to enjoy the serene beauty they encompassed.

Above all else, Lou loved being with her family. From sporting events with her grandchildren to long days at the barn, where she spent many years horseback riding and competing in shows. The barn was her happy place, and she passed that love down to her grandchildren.

The family asks that when you think of Lou, you think of the unending trail of happy memories she leaves behind her. Remember the fragility and brevity of life, and be sure to live yours to the fullest. Lou will be missed more than words can express, but we are comforted by the fact that she will live on in our hearts until we meet again.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Lou’s honor on Sunday, September 19th at 4:00PM at the Lake Washington Stables, 4150 Lake Washington Road, Melbourne, FL 32934.

In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree or donate to hartforhorses.org in her honor.
