Obituary
Diane C. (Trimarchi) Basil, 80, of The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully on October 4th at The Villages Hospital.
She was born July 30, 1941. She is survived by the love of her life, her husband Gabe; her son Jim, his wife Lisa and daughter Gabriela; her son Dave, wife Jennifer and children Madison, Mikayla and Alex; her brother Chuck Trimarchi, wife Bobbi and children Rob, Mike and Pete; her sister-in-law Pat Ciccarelli, her husband Gene and children Allison and Kimberly. She was preceded in death by her parents Vincent and Mary Ann Trimarchi.
Diane and Gabe Basil were married 58 years and made their home in The Villages, Florida. Diane grew up in Schenectady, NY, where she graduated from Draper High School and worked more than 20 years for the Niskayuna (NY) School District. While her initial occupation was in the school library, her true vocation was being a mother and grandmother, she was devoted to her family above all else. A devout Catholic, she was a woman of deep faith who helped instill the same in her family.
Diane was an active part of The Villages community and member of St. Mark the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. She was also a member of Benvenuto, The Villages Duplicate Bridge and Book Clubs, and loved to play tennis, golf and mahjong. Diane will be deeply missed, but forever remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother.
The family is planning to hold memorial services in Schenectady, NY and The Villages, FL at later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Diane’s name to the scholarship program at Schenectady County Community College Foundation, Inc. at 78 Washington Avenue, Schenectady, NY 12305. We are saddened to hear of Diane's passing. It has been many years since we were fellow students. She had a dynamic personality, enjoyed life, family and especially tennis. May the many memories you shared ease the pain of your loss.
Best regards,

My condolences to the Basil family.
Because her maiden name was also in the obit, I immediately recognized Diane as a former student of mine at Draper high School. I could immediately picture her, even where she sat in the classroom. She was a bright, delightful, respectful teenager and obviously continued her life in the same manner. Just wish I had been aware she lived in our complex.
