Obituary
On Thursday, July 28th, 2022, Peggy Jean Peros, loving wife, sister, mother and “Mimi” of ten, passed away peacefully at the age of 71, surrounded by members of her family in Fort Myers, FL after courageously facing months of illness.
Peggy was born on August 4, 1950 in Canonsburg, PA to Estelle (Stella) Irene Jones and Ernest James Rotta. She graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1972 and moved to Massachusetts seeking an adventure on Cape Cod. She met her future husband, James Albert Peros Jr. while working at the Old Yarmouth Inn in Yarmouthport, MA. They were married September 6, 1975. Peggy’s love of the ocean led her to live by the beach for the rest of her life. She and Jim established a home together in Falmouth, MA until they retired to Fort Myers in 2009.
Peggy Jean was her family’s pillar of strength, empathy, and warmth. She was a tireless caregiver, and loving mother to her children. She lived for her grandchildren and talked with them daily. In retirement, she enjoyed playing cards with friends and leading water aerobics classes in her community.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law Gene Peros, sister-in-law Kathleen Peros and nephew Damian Peros. She is survived by her husband James, her three children, Lisa, Kristina and Jonathon, her son-in-law Nathan Miller and daughter in-law Rebecca Mackenzie, her sister Patty Lynn Cunningham and brother-in-law Thomas Cunningham, brother-in-law Shane Peros and his wife, Barbara Peros, her beloved nieces and nephews, Christy and Craig Cunningham, Shane Peros, and her treasured grandchildren Noah, Emma, Ella, Ava, Cora, Mira, Leah and Micah Miller and George and Theodore Peros.
A celebration of life for Peggy will be held by the family at a later date in Fort Myers, FL. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Peggy’s name to Hope Hospice https://hopehospice.org/donate/.
