Obituary
John Edward Collette, 79, of Port Charlotte, Florida went to be with the lord surrounded by his family on May 11th after a long illness. John was born on May 18th, 1943 in St. Albans, Vermont where he later graduated from St. Mary’s High School.
John is survived by his wife Donna Collette, daughter Kim Freeman and her husband Keith of North Carolina, his son Greg Collette and his wife Dawn of Vermont. Four step sons, Ed, Steve, Tom, Scott and their families, 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Frank and Loretta Collette, Triplet Siblings, and his sister Maryellen Peters.
John worked for Noyes Tire Company for many years which led him to start his own tire company called Mountain View Tire. He then worked for Overhead Door, Williston Vermont for several years.
John loved his Dallas Cowboys, Golf, Boating, Snowmobiling, Apple Island Camp and spending time with family and friends.
His outgoing, gregarious personality brought a smile to the face of anyone that was lucky enough to know him. Even a stranger didn’t remain a stranger for long. Knowing him made all of us better people. He was always there for everyone and the first to lend a hand if needed.
Services will be at the discretion of the family.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to your local hospice organization.
He will be greatly missed by all!!! We love you daddy!
Love, Dee & Warren
You gave me the most wonderful years filled with all the love and patience anyone could have ever asked for. You were so wonderful, and you changed my life and showed me how love is supposed to be. You always took care of me and showed me how life is supposed to be lived. You gave me another son and a daughter that I cherish like they were my own. You all accepted my 4 sons along with me with love. I thank you for everything and I miss you and will love you forever and ever. I love you WATWAB and did I tell you today how much I love you? "I love you a bushel and a peck a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck". You used to roll your eyes every morning and before went to sleep, but you would always sing it right along with me and then smile. You were a very "special" man and I know God put us together so you could take care of me in the beginning, and I could take care of you in the end. I hope you think I did a good job, Babe, because I really tried. I love you, my love WATWAB. I will be celebrating your birthday, tomorrow,
with all of your Newport Condo friends here in Port Charlotte. I love you, My Love - your Bumpy
Pattie and I cannot express how sorry we are at Johns passing. John was a great friend to us for over 25 years. His passing will leave a hole in our hearts. We will never forget all of the good times we had. Our prayers go out to you and your extended family.
