Obituary

Edward George “Eddie” Steighner Jr. was born on June 7th, 1950 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  He moved to New Smyrna Beach, Florida with his family in 1956.  He served in the United States Navy with distinction and honor for approximately 13 years as an air crewman.  Eddie had a heart for service and hard work and never backed away from a challenge.  His adventurous spirit led him to explore various parts of America and took him on paths to better understand the world around him.  At a moment’s notice, he was ready leave on a new adventure with his wife Linda.  His family and friends were an important part of his life and they always knew Eddie was there if they needed him.

This Renaissance man was a master carpenter who was a servant of the Chief Master Carpenter and Creator of the universe.  While Eddie wasn’t afraid of much on this earth, the one that he did have a healthy respect for was the Almighty.  Eddie’s attention to detail in all that he did was a reflection of how he viewed God and His orderly perfection.  Eddie passed into eternity on May 22, 2023, having fought the good fight, and having kept the faith, all to the glory of God alone.

Eddie was married to the love of his life, Linda (Marshall) Steighner and is the father of Stephen Steighner, Robin (Ryan) McCarter, and Frances (Shawn) Ross.  Other survivors include one brother, four sisters, and five grandchildren.

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
– 2 Timothy 4:7
