Obituary

Minerva Emilia Clinton was born April 18, 1939, to the parentage of Eugenio Soto and Margarita Fontanez of Arroyo, Puerto Rico where she lived until graduating High School.  Shortly thereafter she moved to New York City.

She was joined in holy matrimony on January 16, 1960 to Elmer Joseph Clinton and from their union, they were blessed with four children. She was a devoted wife, loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Minerva, affectionately known as Minnie, spent 17 years working at Pan American Airlines in New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport until they closed their doors permanently. She held several positions thereafter in different customer service type roles and was a dutiful and faithful servant who loved the Lord and was passionate about wanting others to know about His love and saving grace. She regularly attended and served at Calvary Chapel Cape Coral and always looked forward to attending women’s bible studies with her beloved friends. Some of her other favorite things included playing card games with her family, her favorite being “Phase 10”, and making beautiful jewelry pieces.

Minnie was also known for her loving and giving spirit.  She would literally give you the shirt off of her back if you said that you liked it.  She had a beautiful smile and a contagious laugh, which also dubbed her the nickname of “Minnie ha-ha”.  She loved music – from praise and worship to salsa and merengue – and also loved to dance; many times being the life of the party with her chants of “WOO”.

Minnie leaves a legacy to cherish and many memories with her four children:  deceased son – Michael A. Clinton (Yvonne) who is survived by their children, Christine Clinton, Michael A. Clinton Jr (Courtney) and Annie Morales; daughter- Michele Clinton Smith (Mitch) and their children Joey Labrada, Josh DeVos, Ashley Perry (Seth), Cody Smith and Kendall Smith; son – Eric Clinton (Claudia) and their children, Jessica DeNicola (Frank), Brianna Clinton, Gabriella Clinton and Matthew Clinton; daughter – Denise Hairston (Robert Jr.) and their children, Robert Hairston III, M. Gregory Hairston, Selena Hairston and Lexia Hairston. Not only did she leave a legacy for her children and grandchildren, but another of her greatest joys were her great grandchildren: Genesis, Peyton, Piper, Raelynn, Isabelle, Serenity, Frankie Jr, Anthony, James, Robert IV, Jonah, Jeremiah and Sevyn.

Minnie was preceded in death by her brother, Miguel Soto, and sister, Eva Soto Paiva, and is survived by siblings Marcos Soto, Janel Soto, Gabriel Soto, Hector Soto and Marilia Soto. She is also survived by many, many cousins, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends that loved her dearly and will miss her greatly.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2019 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at:

Riverside Community Center – 3061 E Riverside Dr., Fort Myers, FL 33916.

Minnie and Elmer were always a joy to fellowship with. So glad we got to see them both in September. She had a sweet spirit and could pull off wearing a hat in style. We will always treasure our Florida friends and
are warmed by our many memories of them.
