Obituary
Kenneth (Ken) Lee Miller, 89, of North Fort Myers, Florida passed away on November 14, 2020 at Brookdale Fort Myers Cypress Lake. He was born in Tipton Township, Indiana on March 8, 1931 to Earl and Opal (Smith) Miller. He attended and graduated from Royal Center High School where he found his love of basketball.
On July 21, 1951, Ken was united in marriage to Lorine (Ingram) in Lake Cicott, Indiana. Ken enlisted in the Air Force on July 4, 1951 and served until his honorable discharge on July 2, 1955. He served on many bases around the United States, but Ken and Lorine’s favorite base was in Massachusetts. This time in Massachusetts is where they found their life long passion for antiques and designing their homes. Ken was very intelligent and spent many hours working in his garage inventing dispensing equipment. This led to Ken starting his own company as well as holding the patent for his invention. Ken and Lorine loved to travel to antique shows in New England and vacation in Florida.
Kenneth was well known for his outgoing personality, love of golfing, wine, and Purdue University (Boiler up!). He especially enjoyed time with his good friends including those from Sertoma Broadripple (member from 1998 -2016, before moving to Florida full time), Del Tura (North Fort Myers), and many wonderful neighbors he met across the years. He loved his daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and treasured every moment he spent with them. Ken will always be with us as his legacy is found in all the lives he has touched.
Ken will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all those who knew him. Ken is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lorine, his brother Dennis Miller, and his beloved dog, Star. Ken is survived by his daughters Christina (John) Maas of Fishers, Indiana and Debra (Tom) Richardson of Topeka, Kansas, 8 grandchildren (Matt, Bethany, Joanna, Amanda, Isaac, Melissa, Alyssa, and Haylee) and 6 great-grandchildren (Devon, Aleiya, Jacoby, Savannah, Charlotte, and Caleb).
Ken was truly blessed to have friends who always brought him joy, happiness, and cared for him. Jim Hudson, among many others, truly exemplified this. Ken and his family are appreciative and indebted to Jim for his friendship.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made out to the Sertoma Club of Broad
Ripple, with naming “Legacy Fund in memory of Ken Miller” on the memo line. The address to send to is Sertoma Club of Broad Ripple, P.O. Box 40053, Indianapolis IN 46240.
