Obituary

Christine R. Coppenhaver
October 30, 1921 – December 13, 2020 Winter Park, FL

Christine Coppenhaver, age 99, passed peacefully into eternal rest in her home with family at her side.

Christine was born in Myerstown, PA to Harry and Eva Yiengst. At a young age her joy in community, friends, music and theater was instilled in her heart and followed her all the days of her life. These passions have been shown to all who have known and loved her in stories and actions in a long and valued life. Some of these actions were trips with friends to hear the big bands and musicians of her growing up years at Hershey Park and performing many One Woman shows at her church in Myerstown and other venues in east and central PA. Her passion for life is shown no more brightly than the story of her meeting Richard R. Coppenhaver on a double date, falling in love and marrying him just 6 weeks later, spending the next 53 years together. Relocation to Winter Park in 1958 found Christine with new opportunities to guide her family, serve her community and jointly with Richard enjoy the arts and friends in their new home town. They were charter members of Redeemer Lutheran Church. For forty-five years Christine served as an auxilian “Pink Lady” at Winter Park Memorial Hospital. In the auxiliary she served in the hallways and patient rooms of the hospital and in the organization as chief parliamentarian and president of the WPMH auxiliary and parliamentarian of the State of Florida hospital auxilian board of directors. To her family she is best known as Mom, Nana (“The Great Nanzini”) and the life of every party and gathering!

Christine is preceded in death by the love of her life Richard R. Coppenhaver and her eldest daughter Di Ann Murdoch. She is survived by her children Dorian Coppenhaver (Charlotte Anne), Denise Sheehan and Darryl Coppenhaver (Marilyn). Her grandchildren Richard and Patricia Murdoch, Claire Sheehan, Rebekah Arthur (Jason), Rachel, Ryan (Sara) and Richard Coppenhaver II; her great-grandchildren Tamara, Kristofer, Jennifer, Hunter, Keifer, Aubrey, Christine, Ellie and Payton; and great great-grandchildren Dominic, Tristan and Mackynzee.
