Obituary

Arthur A. Braun (Artie), 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Artie lived in Woodhaven, Queens, NY for 30 years, before moving to Daytona Beach Shores, Florida 29 years ago.

Artie was a retired New York City police officer with 26 years of service.  He also served in the National Guard and as a medic in the US Army Reserves.

He was a wonderful and beloved father, grandfather and uncle who looked forward to his annual summer visits from his family.  He was laid back, relaxed, kind and generous to everyone.  He had a great sense of humor and was quick with a joke, always making everyone laugh. He loved crossword puzzles, Scrabble, and words in general.

He spent his mornings at the local Burger King with his friends, and afterwards went hunting for treasures at the local flea market.  He filled his home with model sailing ships, ships in a bottle, decorative fish and whatever struck his fancy or made him laugh.

Artie was preceded in death by his parents, Berta and Adolf Braun, his wife Marietta Braun, his son Eugene A. Braun, his sister, Bertha Beechel and his grandson, Brian V. Krilov.

Artie is survived by his daughter, Marietta Krilov, his son-in-law Victor Krilov, and his granddaughter Michelle Krilov.

A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at Baldwin Brothers, 620 Dunlawton Ave, Port Orange on Friday, June 12 from 10 am to 12 noon.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.

Uncle Artie was a funny man. Kind and thoughtful. I will always remember him and his little jokes. He always made our trips to New York exciting and entertaining. He had such a gentle soul for a cop. Most people would think cops are rough & tough but not him. Stern yes, tough no. I will remember him fondly. Rest in Peace Uncle Artie.
