Obituary
Ocala, FL, April 21, 2022 – Mr. Aston Clemmings, beloved husband of 62 years to Olive Clemmings peacefully passed away on April 16, 2022, at Ocala Regional Medical Center, Ocala FL. He was 90 years old. Mr. Clemmings is survived by his wife Olive, his six children, Lillieth (Hodmon) Fletcher, Ocala FL, Alfonso (Sylvia) Clemmings, Converse TX, Basil (Althea) Clemmings, Ocala FL, Claudia (John) Grissom, Middletown NY, Nicola Clemmings Madison, WI, Karlene Cameron, New York, NY, Carlene Jennings, Middletown NY, Andrei (Suzanne) McGann, Croton-on-Hudson NY, 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, Laurel Samuels Middletown, NY, Wilfred (Carline) James, Kingston, Jamaica, as well as his sisters, Joy Golden, Millicent Clemmings, Pauline Forbes, Lilieth Barton, Audrey Clemmings, Hazel Clemmings; his brothers, Courtney McDonald, Kenneth Clemmings, Everald Clemmings Sr., Laton Clemmings, Othniel Clemmings Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives too many to list.
He is preceded in death by parents George Clemmings, Ivy McDonald, and stepfather James McDonald; sisters Lona Robinson, Therice Clemmings and brothers Byron McDonald and Thomas Clemmings.
Aston was born July 3, 1931, in St. Ann, Jamaica to George Clemmings and Ivy McDonald. He was a mechanic, attended trade school, then worked for National Baking Company LTD. While working in Kingston, Jamaica, he met Olive while attending Calvary Assembly Church and they married on May 10, 1959. They resided in Kingston, Jamaica before migrating to the United States where they resided in Bronx, NY. He worked as a forklift driver for Alexander’s Warehouse in Bronx, NY before relocating to Ocala FL in 1992 where he worked until his retirement.
He was a choir member at Calvary Assembly Church (Kingston, Jamaica), a Deacon and choir member of Gospel Trumpet Church of God (Bronx, NY), and worship team member at College Park Church of God (Ocala, FL).
Memorial services will be officiated by Dr. James Fleming at College Park Church of God, Ocala, FL on May 24, 2022, at 10 a.m. immediately followed by a respite.
