Obituary

Barbara Ann Daboll (Drinkard) died in Hospice care on March 22, 2024. She would have been 82 on April 6th.

Barbara was born in New London, CT to Harold and Ethel (Keeney) Greene. She graduated from New London High School in 1960 and enjoyed a long career in financial institutions as a Bank Teller. Barbara worked for New London Savings Bank, New England Savings Bank, and Liberty Bank, before retiring from Essex Savings in 2008. Barbara married R. Drew Drinkard, Jr in June 1963 and moved to Waterford, CT where she raised their three children.

Barbara was active in youth sports from a young age, playing Minor League Baseball in New London and as Point Guard for the New London Lady Whalers Basketball team. She loved all sports and spent every Spring and Summer at the Waterford Little League complex coaching, watching, and cheering her kids and hundreds of others as they played ball.

Barbara was also active in church throughout her life, as a youth handbell and choir member at St. James Episcopal Church and as a dedicated choir member and trio singer at Huntington Street Baptist Church. She also served on the finance committee and as a deaconess at HSBC.

In March 1990, Barbara was widowed, and in September 1992, she remarried to Roger M. Daboll, Jr.  After retiring, Barbara and Roger could be found attending the Mohegan Sun Women’s Basketball games or swimming in the pool of their “snowbird” home in St Petersburg, FL. Barbara was active in the Winston Park NE Condo Association’s Social Club, serving as the treasurer for several years. Barb was well known at the Thursday Night Cookouts for her “famous” cornbread pudding and was a fixture at the Annual Association Garage Sale.

Barbara was preceded in death by both husbands and was the last of the Greene Family siblings. She is survived by her children, Lisa Jo Daniels and husband Russell, Laurel Ann Courville and husband Paul, and Brian K. Drinkard and Bess Ensinger. Barbara was also the beloved Grammie to Michael Daniels, Morgan Daniels, Matthew Courville, and Rachel Courville.

A memorial service will be held in New London, CT with interment at Cedar Grove Cemetery, on Saturday, May 25, 2024.

Memorial donations can be made in her name to Waterford Little League, PO Box 16, Waterford, CT 06385, or to the Kid’s Ministry at Gateway Community Church, 2801 Tropic Street, Titusville, FL 32796
