Obituary
Bettie Jane Grubbs, 80, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2020 at Cornerstone Hospice in Tavares Florida.
Bettie lived her life serving God’s purpose through family, friends and countless others by giving of her time and comfort. She was born on October 10, 1939, the daughter of Howard Ray and Matilee (Rice) Hatfield in Bardstown, Kentucky. Bettie lived primarily in Kentucky and Tennessee, but had the gumption to move to Florida for the last 35 years of her life. She was a devoted wife and mother, and successful in the business world. She graduated Manual High School in Louisville, and married her husband of 49 years, Mahlon B. Grubbs in 1959. She spent the next 20 years raising her two boys, Mark and Bill, while also maintaining a successful career as an office administrator. Bettie was a key part of a large construction firm that built roads throughout Florida. A woman of kindness, compassion and service, she touched countless lives throughout her career.
Bettie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her son, Mark Grubbs, and sister, Julia Berding. She is survived by her son Bill Grubbs; 4 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Per her wishes, Betty will have her ashes interred at sea during a private ceremony.
