Obituary

Bill Maggard, 76, of Cape Coral, FL, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at the Gulf Coast Medical Center.  Bill was born in Harlan County, Delhoit, Kentucky.  His parents, Willie Maggard and Alma Jenkins and brother Gary, preceded him in death.

He graduated from Marion High School and immediately enlisted in the Air Force.  He retired after 20 years of service and returned to Ball State University, getting his Business Degree.  His second career for 20 plus years was in Health Care Administration and worked closely with Alzheimer’s organizations.

Bill was an avid sports enthusiast, with golf at the top of the list.  He was so delighted to  see his “Cubbies” win the World Series in 2016.  While retirement allowed him to continue golfing, he also pursued his love for photography and animals.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Julia; his loving children: Billy Maggard (Erin), Kevin Andrew Maggard (Alicia), Jeffery West (Kim), Jennifer McDonald (Pat); his sister, Barbara D’Andrea (Nick); sister-in-law Julie McClish: his grandchildren: Lauren Moses (Andrew), Caleb Maggard, Ethan Maggard, Jill Maggard, Nicholas West, Shannon Jo Stout (Anthony), Jacob Strode, Jackson Strode & Julia Strode; along with great grandchildren: Myla Mae Moses, Eden Moses and Camden Moses.

A Military Committal Service will be held at 12:30pm on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241 with U.S. Air Force Honor Guard officiating.

Then the family is hosting afterwards a Celebration of Life gathering from 4:00-6:00PM on Friday, December 16, 2022 at The Villages of Entrada, 2548 Villages of Entrada Street, Cape Coral, FL 33909.

Was so sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. Bill was a wonderful childhood friend in Marion. I was fortunate to see him a few years back while I was in Florida along with Gary Little. I don’t have to tell you that he was just a great person. He was a great person and patriot and sure a great husband.
