Obituary
Bruce William Herrold, Sr., 91, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021. He was born August 14, 1929 in Akron, Ohio to parents Dean and Alice Herrold. After graduating high school, he served in the United States Army Honor Guard during the Korean War as a Corporal. He married Joan E. Carter and went on to have a long career as a store manager and a buyer for retail home goods.
Bruce was above all a family man and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband and father. He also enjoyed boating, music, playing the organ, baseball, reading mystery novels and working crossword puzzles. Bruce loved recent U.S. history and “little known facts.” He was still able to do everything, including driving, and was pretty computer “literate.” Bruce is dearly loved by his family and friends, and he will be greatly missed.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Joan E. Herrold of Daytona Beach, Florida, his daughter, Jill Walker and husband Brad of Deland, Florida, his sons, Bruce Herrold, Jr. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Robert Herrold and wife Melissa of Youngsville, North Carolina, and his grandchildren Ryan and Haylie Walker. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Hansen and husband Richard of Deland, Florida and many nieces and nephews.
