Captain Edward W. Smith, of New Smyrna Beach passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010. He was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina on June 23, 1943 to James and Edith Smith. He enjoyed sports, especially golf and football. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his family. Captain Smith served in the Air Force for twenty one years. He was a Weapons Control Officer on the Air Borne Battlefield Command Control Center. He also served five years in Vietnam. He is preceded in death by his parents; James & Edith Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Deborah; his two sons, Wade (Peggy) Smith II of Tacoma, Washington & Farley Smith of Tacoma, Washington; his sister, Ann S. (Jack) Burks of Columbia, SC. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, November 14, 2010 at 2:00pm at First Baptist Church, 214 Sams Avenue, New Smyrna Beach.
