Obituary
Carl Gebhart was born January 17, 1948 to Carl and Lois Gebhart in Daytona Beach Florida and passed away on August 7, 2016 after a lengthy illness. Carl grew up in Daytona Beach Florida with a brief stay in Cross City Florida. Carl was an outgoing child, loving the outdoors, with hunting and fishing being his favorite past time activities. Carl graduated from Seabreeze High school in Ormond Beach Florida in 1966. During his high school years, he developed the love of music and actually played guitar with the Allman Brothers. How cool is that!! After high school he decided to go into the business of his loving stepfather, Harvey White. He became an optician apprentice and worked with his stepfather at White’s Opticians and then eventually with Dr. Robert Young at Atlantic Optical. He stayed there until his retirement. He loved his Atlantic Optical family! Carl married his high school sweetheart, Annette Sheffield-Stone in 1968. They were married for 48 years! He was the proud father of Alisa Dees (Robert) and Chris Gebhart and loving grandfather of JJ Schoenwetter (Katie), Ashlie Burgett (Brandon), Danielle Rogers (John), Kaylee Dees, and Christa Slice (Danny). He also had 8 great grandchildren, Trey Schoenwetter, Avarie Burns, Harison Rogers, Wyatt Schoenwetter, Brantley Slice, Bennett Rogers, Austin Schoenwetter and Kyleigh Slice. He was also the loving pet owner of his beloved cats, Baylee and Little Bit, whom he adored. Carl was very active with softball and bowling. He served as past president of the Daytona Beach Optical Association and Bowling Association. Carl was also a part time Game Warden with the Florida Game and Fish Commission and retired as a Lieutenant. Carl was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, brother in law and friend. Carl was a loving brother and adored his sisters, Treisa Angel (Jim) and Joleena Mogle (David). He was also the loving step brother of Norman White, Sharon Beekman, Gloria White, Judy White and Arlene Rogers. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. He was truly a very special person and will be terribly missed. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Daytona Beach Humane Society and the American Heart Association. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 12, 2016 at 2pm at Port Orange Baptist Church- 316 Church Street, Port Orange, FL 32127. Baldwin Brothers Ormond Beach is in charge.
